Gomoku: Five Stones in a Row is a strategic board game for two competitors. On a square board measuring 19×19 (in the classic variant) or 15×15 (in the contemporary sports edition) points, participants take turns placing stones of two hues. The victor is the one who first creates an unbroken line of five stones of their color either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally. It offers numerous variations, differing in particular aspects of the rules. The game is thought to have originated in China more than two millennia ago. Today, the game is recognized globally; competitive events are conducted based on it.
